Summary: Sarah Millholland, an assistant professor of physics at MIT, has been awarded the 2024 Vera Rubin Early Career Award by the American Astronomical Society’s Division on Dynamical Astronomy. This recognition is for her contributions to understanding the formation and dynamics of extrasolar planetary systems, including her findings on the similar masses of super-Earth planets within a system and the impact of resonances on tidal evolution. Millholland’s work combines thoughtful analyses of 3D dynamical processes with effective use of observational data. She will give a lecture at the 56th annual DDA meeting in spring 2025. Millholland, who earned her PhD from Yale University in 2020, specializes in studying gravitational interactions and their effects on exoplanet properties.
